Habitat conservation for our natural resources is one of the most important issues facing the environment today – both in the ocean and our Chesapeake bay.  Preserving habitats and creating more is essential to preserving biodiversity.  CCA has a long history of supporting and taking part in restoration projects, but to truly impact the health and sustainability of our Chesapeake resources, we need to create an organized and lasting program for funding and executing habitat restoration projects throughout the coast.  Developing solutions to solve damage to fishery’s habitat, planning fisheries habitat restoration efforts, and bringing partners together to develop monitoring studies are a few of the examples CCA Maryland engages in.  One of our primary goals is to engage recreational anglers, communities and students by raising awareness to issues facing our Chesapeake’s natural resources and help people learn about marine life and conservation so that they will love our coastal resources and help protect them, if not restore it to a healthy state.

There is no shortage of needs.  The Chesapeake and coastal habitats of Maryland offer abundant opportunities for restoration projects.  Thanks to generations of members, donors and partners, to date CCA and Building Conservation Trust (BCT) have funded millions towards habitat projects.

About BCT
The Building Conservation Trust (BCT) was founded in 2010 as the national marine habitat program of Coastal Conservation Association. BCT is a 501c3 non-profit organization exclusively dedicated to providing funding for local, state and national fisheries, habitat conservation and restoration projects. BCT has created a model for the successful collaboration of business, non-profit organizations and government agencies to revitalize critical habitat and establish a vibrant foundation for the marine ecosystem.
